Camp VALOR, for friends and family.
I need your help.
This blog is not so much about me, but about something that with your help, could end up changing the lives of many young boys in Piura, Peru.
In May of this year, we, volunteers in Piura (northern part of Peru), will be hosting a 3-day event known Camp VALOR (Varones Adolescentes Lideres Organizados Responsables). This camp is dedicated to teaching teenage boys about becoming responsible, organized leaders in their community. There will be many activities throughout the weekend to demonstrate to them their abilities to become responsible young adults. Too often teens in Peru are told they will not go very far, and it is that mindset that we as volunteers hope to change.
Each volunteer from Piura will bring 2 or 3 boys from their community for a weekend filled with learning, challenges, team-building activities, and the chance to interact with Peace Corps Volunteers and other boys in different sites. Many of the boys attending Camp Valor have never had the opportunity to be away from home, and for some it will be the FIRST time they have ever left their community.
This camp will change their lives.
But I need your help.
Any donation to this camp will greatly appreciated. It is a tax-deductible donation to a cause that I know will be beneficial to so many young boys here in Piura. If you know anyone else that would be interested in donating please send them this blog with this link.

Like I said.. even a small amount is greatly appreciated.
Thank-you.
